When it comes to catching bass it pays to be aware of your surroundings. One thing that you really need to pay attention to is the birds. When your flying down the lake look for blue herons, kingfishers, ospreys, the gulls or other birds of prey. These birds will almost always be around the bait fish. After all these birds have to catch fish in order to survive. Sometimes you will find gulls just sitting around. While the fish might not be active you know that there are bait and bass in the area. If you haven't thought much about what the birds are doing when your bass fishing make sure you tune into them the next time you hit the water. You will be sure to catch more bass.
